This website serves to showcase my growth throughout my nursing career. It also displays my professional and academic achievements for the Master of Health Studies Course – MHST601: Critical Foundations in Health Disciplines at Athabasca University.

My name is Chantelle Shepperd, and I am a registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) (Hons) from York University in Ontario. I have been a registered nurse (RN) for over 12 years and have worked in various acute and community healthcare settings. Most of my nursing career has been in the mental health and addictions sector. I have worked as mental health and addictions nurse supporting students from kindergarten to twelve and as care coordinator/health links care coordinator at the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN)/Ontario Health. I have worked in the emergency department at the Centre of Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and as a nurse consultant in withdrawal management/addictions services at St. Joseph's Health Centre Toronto (Unity Health). I have worked on an assertive community treatment team (ACTT) at the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA). I am currently working as a Field Nurse Reimbursement Specialist in a patient support program at a pharmaceutical company. I support patients enrolled in the patient support program for three biological medications used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, plaque psoriasis, and hidradenitis suppurative. I work closely with dermatologists, gastroenterologists, ophthalmologists, and rheumatologists in downtown Toronto and the greater Toronto area.


I am highly motivated healthcare professional with a strong passion for nursing and providing quality health care for vulnerable populations. I am completing a Master of Health Studies program with a leadership focus through the University of Athabasca in Alberta. I aspire to be a leader in healthcare who motivates, shapes, and mentors employees to meet organizational goals and patients’ needs. I want to encourage multi-level changes that ultimately improve healthcare for diverse populations. Finally, I want to be a part of a system that enhances the standards and quality of care patients receive.


My professional obligation as a registered nurse in Ontario involves practicing under the standards and guidelines of nursing care regulated by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). The CNO is the governing body for registered nurses (RNs), registered practical nurses (RPNs), and nurse practitioners (NPs) in Ontario, Canada (CNO, 2022). The CNO fulfills its role by establishing requirements for entry to practice, developing and enforcing practice standards, and determining that members are providing quality care (CNO, 2022).
